Penny and Grant have updated the main presentation of the Kenmore Bypass issues and alternatives. It’s a good way to review things from a high level. Check it out! If this link does not lead you to the PDF, try this one instead. If you need a reader for the PDF document, you can get it here.

Love the presentation. That social impact info is incredible. How did you get a copy of the Main Roads information? Did Dr Flegg give you a copy? Thanks for sharing this.

This may not be the place to post this?
I am very concerned that main roads / government will go ahead with the bypass - the community consultation phase seems simply there to work out out the best way to build the bypass - not to study alternatives. Any alternatives offered are met with “that is not in the scope of the study”. Am I correct in my assumption regarding this? If this is true - how do we as a community counteract this?

I think this is the place to post your comments Carl, because hopefully everyone will read it and begin to understand that everyone needs to get involved! I totally agree with you about this farce that is called ‘community consultation’ - the Project committee seem determined to simply manage those of us who will be affected by this road. I think we need another public meeting so that those people who are opposed to the road but are sitting back thinking it won’t happen, can realise they need to act now. This week of the 25th August, DMR or their project committee have announced they will be in the area looking at how they can ‘manage’ the flora and fauna and no doubt we humans; no doubt so that they can push this freeway through.

I fear Pam is right. I note that the CRG has a lot of individuals listed and no-one representing Kenmore South, ABC, any school, Moggill Creek Catchment Group, another environment group, or Fig Tree Pocket. I don’t know the person representing Neighbourhood Watch so don’t know how he was elected. Remember Disraeli and do something. We live in a democracy where we are allowed to voice our opinion without fear. It is up to us to make them listen to us regarding better alternatives. It is obviously easier for the powers that be to stick to this freeway, pushing it through in stages, to ill advised and misled people. After reading Pamela’s comments I am determined to be heard.

Thanks for the comments on the presentation. FYI - we obtained a copy of the Main Roads pre-feasibility study report (4 volumes) under a freedom of information request. It did not include the financial analysis for some reason…? If anyone would like a copy of the report, please email us.
