On this new page you can hear recordings made by our supporters which illustrate yet another impact of a new road: the noise of traffic that replaces the sounds of nature. You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone, as you can sing along in the attached video!

In response to Peter J’s comments on Wed 28 May yes it will affect all of us. The nature of the western suburbs of valley and hill most residents will experience a level of noise such as that of an amphitheatre. We live in Kenmore 1 1/2 kms from the centenary freeway, on a ridge with a valley and another ridge which is next to the centenary freeway. During the day we hear the constant hum of the freeway, as peak hour approaches the noise gets louder and louder, them it settles some. As the evening and night wears on, in come the trucks all night. We hear them accelerate as they cross over the bridge at Jindalee to get up the hill to Kenmore/Fig Tree Pocket. It seems most drivers plant the foot to get up and over the hill at a speed they were doing previously. Alternately as they come back down the same hill to cross the river we hear them apply the airbrakes ALL NIGHT!!!
So if this can happen 1 1/2 kms away from a existing freeway in our area, imagine what it would be like to live 50, 100 or 500 metres away from it. I shudder at the thought of having to cope with type of noise pollution, let alone all the other detrimental effects it will have on all of us. I believe our homes are our sanctuaries away from the pressures of the world, we have a right to tell the government that they don’t have the right to destroy our homes and cause us any further stress. Definitely No Kenmore bypass
