Rick Kilgour sent a letter of Bypass opposition to several of those listed on our action page (and you can too!) Rick sends along for us to post this reply he got from Lawrence Springborg, Leader of the Opposition. It appears that Springborg and LNP acknowledge the bypass is a link to the Ipswich Motorway, and Centenary Highway is at capacity. (Note that this site does not endorse any political party; we duly report the positions.)

Dear Mr Kilgour

I write to acknowledge receipt of your email sent 9th December 2008 regarding the Kenmore Bypass. I apologise for the delay in my response to you.

I certainly appreciate your contribution and look forward to referring to your correspondence during LNP policy development.

The LNP is mindful that most of the western suburbs do not want an extension of the Ipswich Motorway through their areas as a bypass and the Centenary Highway is certainly at capacity.

The LNP is currently developing more transport policies and this will be included in those deliberations.

Therefore we would prefer to examine all options and complete proper transparent consultation with all stakeholders involved.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention.

Yours Sincerely

Lawrence Springborg
Leader of the Opposition

Well I do hope they examine ALL the options. All the fanfare with WBTNI and still no report into transport options in the west. One can only believe it is rhetoric, again. So far all I’ve seen from the LNP is Flegg pushing the Kenmore Bypass as an option to relieving traffic congestion.

Friends and family out at Moggill, Bellbowrie, Pinjarra Hills, Anstead and Pullenvale have all reported considerable improvement to traffic for them and they see the Moggill rd upgrade that is all but finished as the defacto Kenmore Bypass.

The original road contractor that caused major delays and Main roads who took over the botched job have driven the residents out west nearly mental, they are over building roads in the west due to its disruption to their lives for 2 years. They shudder the thought of how years of building the bypass will affect them and perish the effect if the connection to it, out to the Warrego will cause absolute chaos.

Are these transport policies going to take into account the welfare of the threatened species such as the koala and tusked frog that calls the preserved corridor home?

Living close to Kersley rd every day reveals increasing amounts of koala markings on the grey gums that are on our road. I can see that other residents are concerned that these signs of their presence are being quietly argued away and out of existence by the polies and their backroom deals.
With theiur so called transport options.

There is only one truth here the koalas exist and I would like to know what the LNP and ALP are going to do about it. The Greens have made their position quite clear about saving our kenmore, time for you other guys to tell us where you stand on these issues.
