GHD (who did the KB pre-feasibility study for Main Roads) are closing submissions on areas of koala habitation for mapping. You must email SEQkoalastudy@ghd.com.au with the UBD reference points before this Friday the 13th at 5PM.
I will be emailing them tonight mentioning the habitat between Kersley and Kenmore Roads, along with the BCC owned park between Gem and Kenmore Roads, and the bushland from Gem Road to Rafting Ground Park. Also, I will be sending the photos I have taken of evidence of the koalas living in the area. Please do what you can also!

Back in November Minister Pitt in charge of main roads said that there would be no announcement on the Kenmore Bypass for 12 months but 3 months later Mr. Lucas is saying we need to put in infrastructure such as the Kenmore Bypass.
Is that an announcement or a pre announcement? Our koalas and other animal species are in perilous danger from these guys. We need to all fight to save them. I am so sad about the bushfires and they choose a time like this to upset Kenmore and Fig Tree Pockets residents yet again.
Many koalas and wildlife died in the fires in Victoria and some got away. That won’t happen in Kenmore because they will have no where to go other than the Centenary highway or the Kenmore Bypass. Thats interesting if any koalas survive they can be wiped out be the cars and trucks. Local extinction of the koala is inevitable if this flaming road goes ahead.
The ALP green spin on saving koalas from extinction just hit a massive road hump should I say 4 lane highway through Kenmore homes. ALP can’t have green policies like these and expect to win the election.
Thanks for the heads up on this Mr. Lucas the Kenmore residents will fight all the way now to save this beautiful place.

Attention Councillor DeWit this one is for you, your not off the hook by a long shot.
All the Kenmore residents who saw you on the front of the Westside News last week supporting the local residents at the proposed fire station site at Pullenvale were thorough disgusted and outraged.
Why would you fight for them and not us> You stated “the site is ALMOST on top of an important wildlife corridor.”
UNBELIEVABLE
That wildlife corridor connects to our wildlife corridor or they are the same corridor by definition. And have a guess what?
The differenc between that part of the corridor and our is that we all live in and on and around it here in Kenmore.
How biased is that against your own community? Your behaviour is totally inappropriate just like trying to use withdrawal of council funds from the 20th anniversay of Kenmore Neighbourhood watch celebration to prevent people peacefully against the Kenmore Bypass last year.
My question is how far are you going to go to get this Kenmore Bypass in? Looks like the Kenmore residents are the poor cousins in this ward and electorate.
Koala Numbers Halved
Todays Courier Mail pg5 reports on a survey of the Koala Coast(Brisbane, Logan and Rellands)
The survey results released by Minister Kate Jones Climate Change and Sustainability Minister state that the Koala population there has dropped from 4611 to 2279 since 2006.
Vehicles 32 % of deaths
Dog attacks 10% of deaths
Most other fatalities were a result of DISEASE which Ms. Jones says is related to LOSS OF HABITAT and barrier to safe movement caused by vehicles and dogs
Unless the present rate of decline was arrested there would be fewer than 500 koalas by 2010.
Please write to the new Minister and let her know that we here in the western suburbs love our koalas and don’t want them to become extinct. We have less koalas here than the Koala Coast so it is even more imperative to stop the destruction of the koalas habitat.
Premier Bligh and Minister Jones must honour their commitment to save our beautiful Australian icon and state faunal emblem. Please No Kenmore Bypass or Moggill Pocket Sub-Arterial.
