I was sent this and thought it was so good I would share it with you in case you want to cut and paste and forward it around.

We need to keep this e-petition in front of mind for the Government. Please, please do what you can to get signatures for it prior to Tuesday the 30th of September. THANKS AGAIN – Penny

Hi,

Most of you would be aware that I live in Kenmore, Brisbane.

Some might not realise that my home backs onto the proposed Kenmore bypass. Should the bypass go ahead then I will have a four lane highway at my back  fence, literally.

Attached is a map from the proposed interchange at Kenmore.

Interchange map

As you can see the interchange will be massive, resuming a lot of homes to  complete the works.

The road will then run east out to Pullenvale and join back at Moggill road.

Would you like this at your back door?? I brought this property some years  back, my solicitor missed the fact a road was proposed, I didn’t find out  for about a year after purchasing it :(

So…. I need your help. All QLD residents, I am pleading with you to sign a petition posted on the Queensland State Government web site by Ronan Lee MP please go to www.saveourkenmore.com/e-petition before 30th September 2008 and sign.

People in Forest Lake, Springfield, and anywhere south of this proposed intersection  might want to think about the extra traffic being placed in front of you  when driving into the city. So it does effect LOTS of people.

You don’t not have to live in the area to sign the petition, but you do need  to be a Queensland resident.

We realise a problem exists with traffic flow through Kenmore on Moggill Road, but this is not the answer.

Save our Kenmore has some other options.  Go to www.saveourkenmore.com.

Please Pass This On To Other Queensland Residents

Thanks

Spagetti junction is what this option looks like.

It is horrible and there will be no trees left to suck up the pollution.

No green barrier to protect the residents of Kenmore & Fig Tree Pocket and students at Kenmore South State School.

Whatever animals are left after removing the green belt will be added to the ever growing number of road kill in QLD.

I am struggling to find the SMART in smart state. The proposal is ridiculous this will put an inordinate amount of traffic through our beautiful suburbs.

With ZERO incentive for the residents further west of Kenmore to be able to get out of their cars.

I think Dr. Flegg & Ms DeWit need to take note the residents of Kenmore & surrounds have spoken

1. Over 1,000 signatures on election day NO KENMORE BYPASS

2. 600-700 Votes on westside news poll NO KENMORE BYPASS

3. OVER 3,000 Submissions to the prefeesability study which main roads won’t declare publicly for & against( so you can probably hazard a guess that the majority indicated NO KENMORE BYPASS

4. Letters every week in the westside news for months NO KENMORE BYPASS

5. Letters in the Local Bulletin every month NO KENMORE BYPASS

JUST INCASE YOUR NOT SURE HOW THE RESIDENTS FEEL

6, E-petition over 1,000 signatures saying NO KENMORE BYPASS today.

SO WHY AREN’T OUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES NOT LISTENING TO US ???

Bruce & Margaret you really need to get with the program & start listening to us. We are an ever growing mass of people who see that through your actions you are doing every thing else but representing us.

Don Mc

We too bought near the proposed bypass, we did all the right things with the searchs, but becuase the mainroads searches are completly behind in the paperwork, we had to settle, it was going to be another 30 days to wait for main roads to come back to us.

Keep up the pressure.

Steve

Dr. Flegg’s latest newsletter to the electorate shows an outpouring of support for half a dozen homes affectwd by the resurrection of the Goodna Bypass at Moggill.

He states the current government have misled them. Well what about the poor residents of Kenmore, the current council have misled them by approving The Jacaranda estate in Gem rd right on top of the proposed Kenmore Bypass.

Dr. Flegg wants the Moggill residents to be compensated because the creation of a new road reserve will cause a downturn in property values and create uncertainty for the Moggill community.

WOW that’s a bit rich. I haven’t heard Dr. Flegg call for compensation for 4,000 residents of Kenmore & Fig Tree Pocket.

OHHH Dear and Dr. Flegg will apparently continue to fight against the Goodna Bypass road reserve proposal because he believes it is wrong.

So my understanding of Dr. Flegg’s role is to support half a dozen homes at Moggill and to hell with the residents of Kenmore adversely affected by th Kenmore Bypass.

The residents of Kenmore also believe the stage 1 of the Moggill Pocket Sub-Arterial is wrong as well. But what is he doing to support us now that he is fulltime in the electorate.

Well he has a new car with low emissions with his name and website on it & he wants us to give him a wave. That’s nice but I don’t think he will visit the residents of the affected area. Maybe he could actually come to one our meetings and find out how we all feel.

Julie

In my last blog I said in point 2. Westside Newspoll 600-700 votes against((N0) the Kenmore Bypass.

I wrote to the westside news asking them to publish the results but to my knowledge they have not as yet.

However from my best recollection it was about
82% NO KENMORE BYPASS
18% yes KENMORE BYPASS

Perhaps Dr. Flegg would like to make some comments about this to all of his electorate. It really makes me wonder what data & figures were given to main roads & government to get the Moggill Pocket Sub-Arterial Stage1 Prefeesability study started & the subsequent Moggill Pocket Sub-Arterial Stage 1 community consultation process started. When all the evidence appears to be overwhelmingly against the Bypass and very little for the Bypass.

Why would you build a road through Kenmore that joins on to the Western Freeway which can’t handle the current load of traffic. Is this is good use of tax payers money? The mind boggles.

Steve

And Dr. Flegg has redesigned his website with the rest of the time he has now available!!

Seriously he wants improved pedestrian safety and we all agree. But reducing speed limits is not the omly solution.

Build pedestrian overpasses/underpasses at O.L.R., Kenmore S.S. & Bellbowrie.

Cteate safe off road drop off at the schools

Fix the roundabout at Kenmore

Build A Local Bridge at Moggill so those residents can have proper solutions to their commuting problems. They can at least get to the train at Wacol halving trip times to the city & give them better quality of life. Don’t put them in the Kenmore Bypass & make them sit in it with their cars running.

The money for the bypass is approx 500 million. All the above solutions could be done with loads of money left over. Then we could put in cycle and walking paths with it. This would enhance our suburbs & encourage a far healthier society for all of the West.

I want an elected representative that will implement intelligent solutions. Not half baked and outmoded ideas, there is too much at risk.

Chris

I have a number of friends who bring their children to Kenmore South State School from the Centenary area & they regularly tell me how bad the traffic is on the Western freeway

Also have a number of friends who bring their children from Moggill, Bellbowrie, Pinjarra Hills and Pullenvale to Kenmore South.

The 2 major factors involved with these people deciding to commute through heavy traffic.

1. It is a smaller school approx 300 students ( compared with schools in their areas of 700-1,000 students
2 It has a great environmental education & when you walk into the school you feel like it’s in the country ( in other words green)

These parents are very concerned about the very strong possibility of the Kenmore Bypass stripping the school of it’s friendly, quiet green feel.

They are also the parents that I have talked with that realize the Kenmore Bypass won’t solve their traffic issues. Many of the parents have told me they would prefer a bridge that would give them access to rail and move the traffic from the source.

Thus relieving congested Moggill rd so that local traffic can move more freely and city traffic can go by train.

Main roads will never share this information about this type of thinking from these parents. They all indicated to me that they did submissions to the bypass study against the Kenmore Bypass and they wanted better alternatives to improve congestion like building a local bridge at Moggill.

Julie

Dr. Flegg’s latest peicemeal offering to his electorate has just appeared on his website. About Kenmore State High School’s fears for it’s students & crossing busy Moggill road.

This is a very serious situation but Dr. Flegg & the P&C do not go far enough in their letters to the minister. I have also repeatedly asked for overpasses or underpasses to eliminate any children or pedestrian having to negotiate Moggill rd ever again.

OOhhh that might actually help the residents of Kenmore West through to Kenmore South. Dr. Flegg could not be seen to be actually acknowledging these residents, who are in anyway connected to or seriously affected by the Moggill Pocket Sub-Arterial AKA Kenmore Bypass. This information is in the prefeesability study done by Main Roads.

Ahhh by reducing the school speed zones you are endeavouring to increase the congestion because everyone is slowed down. Then Dr. Flegg is seen to be compounding the arguement for the Kenmore Bypass.

Dr Flegg we see through you and your ploys. The Kenmore residents feel like you have declared war on them and we have had enough.

The poor people of Kenmore are suffering stress and depression as a result of your actions. If you took some time like I have over the last 6 months to attend to us you would be able to see the serious negative impact upon our physical & mental health.

You want to talk about the creation of uncertainty for the people of Moggill & the Goodna Bypass rd reserve. Then as our elected representative you also have a duty of care to us. How we feel about the uncertainty hanging over our heads. You have no excuses such as the greater good of the community. They don’t exist!!

Nothing short of a full back down from you & Margaret DeWit will do. An APOLOGY to the residents you represent. If you can’t represent or talk to us then what are you doing masquerading ss our local & state reps.

Julie

Dr. Flegg & Margaret Dewit you could start your apology by signing the e-petition today. The link is above.

Jules

The Flegg problem is easily solved…PUT FLEGG LAST at the next election. I may even set up website dedicated to just that…

I just want to say the biggest thank you to everyone. What an effort with the e-petition. Thankyou Ronan Lee MP for sponsoring it. Last week we had 400 + petitioners and we all pulled together with signs, brochures, printing, letterbox drops, blog posts, emails and the good old spread the word campaign. I have great pleasure in advising we achieved a great result. The “NO KENMORE BYPASS” e-petition achieved the top 10 list of e-petitions for the state of QUEENSLAND in the last 12 MONTHS – yes a whole YEAR – and there have been more than 100 other worthwhile petitions.

So a huge THANKYOU and pat on the back everyone. Keep going!

Joan

Thankyou Ronan for organising the e-petition. I can see it closed with 1264 signatures. I know so many friends and neighbours who do not have email or internet. They were frustrated they couldn’t put their signatures on. If we could have included them it would have been so much higher. It is so good to be able to tell people how we feel and try to get back some sense of control from this terribly stressful process. Thank you everyone involved. Lets hope they listen to us.

Emma
