Through the public consultation process, we have shown that there is significant (and majority) opposition to this out-dated, community-wrecking freeway and that better alternatives are available. We need to keep on voicing our opinion to Government to keep the pressure on. Please sign this new e-petition, and write to the Government.

Is there going to be any more outspoken rallies.

Cannot believe that the Powers to be wish to constuct another main traffic route through the B.C.C.nominated “GREEN BELT” area.Particularly after the past two years of termoil that have been endured on the Moggill Road and still continueing, until God knows when.

Thanks Antony - the campaign continues, and there will be plenty more opportunities to remind the Government we aren’t going away, and there are real solutions which would be better for residents, quicker for commuters and save taxpayers hundreds of millions.

what do you think about the Main Roads update in the Westside News page 10?
it talks about the feedback in Stage 1 (3000 submissions, pro and against bypass), and how Main Roads are moving forward with stage 2.
stage 2 is developing planning options:
“In developing the planning options, Main Roads will consider elements to minimise the impacts of a potential Kenmore Byapass on the community, including thorough technical investigations to provide solutions to mitigate issues such as noise, visual impact, pollution and the environment”.
i think it makes it sound like the KB is a done deal. im also worried about this:
“Some of the alternatives suggested are outside the scope of the Kenmore Bypass Planing Study, but have recorded and passed onto Queensland Transport for consdieration in the WBTNI study”.
what exactly does “outside the scope of the KB planning study” mean? shouldn’t ALL alternatives to the KB be investigated?

Lauren, I will raise your concerns at the first meeting of the CRG with Main Roads tomorrow night and will advise the response via the website. I see that as my role in representing Save Our Suburbs - Kenmore.
If anyone else has any other concerns you would like raised, please let me know ASAP.
Robert
The paper doesn’t really say much and leaves a lot open to interpretation. Would be really handy if Penny could give us an update. We have been in an information vacuum for a while.

Sure Robert. So much happens and I move on and forget to do a post. I will try and do an update of tonights meeting and post it over the weekend.
I am still waiting on the info from Main Roads regarding the community recommendations from 10 years ago for Moggill Road (never 6 lanes). I held off reporting on our meeting with them awaiting the info to give everyone. It has been 7 weeks since that meeting and 4 months since I requested the info/ meeting. Is this reasonable? I really would like to report on that also.

I read the Main Roads update in the paper - it seems as if the project is going ahead? They are developing planning options? So basically they have ignored all the opposition and seem to be refusing to consider alternatives as they are “outside the scope of the study”. Unbelievable!! Who does the department actually report to? They seem to be driving on regardless…..where to from here?
