We have made a new survey which will help us understand everyone’s viewpoints and reasons for supporting or opposing the Kenmore Bypass. Please see the survey here, and pass this link to others. http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?key=pgnjbTaf-OQzOzG1XQ4JFdQ&hl=en_GB

I like the list of alternatives on the survey - but there are so many more if they want to solve the real cause of the problem of traffic congestion and safety. One is location of services closer to the population who needs them. I heard someone say this once in ACT. As areas populations change the Govt sites should change their purpose. Eg, schools for when the young families move in, then convert to community education/ recreation, then retirement villages and nursing homes. That reduces the need for so many car trips and provides the most number of people with what they require. Schools are then built further out where the higher density of families are. You can see in our case we have Moggill SS overflowing and KSS and KSSS struggling to remain.
I don’t understand why our Govt presents that solving traffic congestion is about building more roads. Although their audience may be ignorant on the subject I suppose.
I do like the idea Anna Bligh presented on building more train lines and a loop around the city, as a rail lover. However, I would like to see more distant suburbs provided with viable public transport as I fear they will continue to rely on cars to travel everywhere and longer and longer distances.
Can I ask what the signs are about?

Building a high school at Karana Downs & Mt Crosby would definitely help Moggill Rd by providing education locally. These are growing areas that the government has neglected to provide infrastructure to,Kenmore High is huge & overflowing & this just adds to the pressure on our roads & will continue to get worse.

The survey is good to do.
I can’t believe the fools who thought it wouldn’t ever have an on and off ramp in Kenmore. I see Main Roads are looking at Rafting Ground Road, Gem Road and Kenmore Road ramps.
The Govts promise you one thing and then just deliver it later. Nothing is ever forever when it comes to freeways - just look at Centenary Motorway or Ipswich Motorway or M1 (Gold Coast) - they just get bigger and bigger and the on-off ramps just keep changing! You have to stop them before they start.
Main Roads will sell people what they can get away with - so that may be a 2 lane with no on/off ramps and small interchange with Centenary Highway - for the first stage! You have been so vocal in your campaign they will be trying to appear to be reducing the cost and impacts to get it to go ahead. They want this freeway!
Mark my words, their will be a staged plan of how to expand - it just won’t be released for comment to the community!

Didn’t Main Roads say the Kenmore Bypass will reduce people driving on Kenmore arterial roads? Well how does having on and off ramps on the current arterial roads reduce traffic on them? Won’t people have to drive on these arterial roads to access the Kenmore Bypass then?
Sounds like they are despirate to make it look like more people are going to use it even if it is only for 1km.
They must have money to burn in Main Roads. Sorry, should I say, our money to burn.

Of course they want this freeway and they will do whatever it take to put it in.
The determination they have shown to disregard the immediate & longterm futures of the people of Fig Tree Pocket, Kenmore & pinjarra hills. Also the decimating of a beautiful greenspac, Habitat and waterways. With no representation of any local enviromental group. The whole Community Referecne Group is rigged It is scandolous and borders on corruption.
