We need help please! We have several corflute signs with the printed message: Stop the Ipswich motorway here.
We would like to place these signs on the corridor route through Anstead, Moggill, Pullenvale to Kenmore and Fig Tree Pocket. We particularly would like some signs on Sugars Road, Mt Crosby Road, Witty Road, O’Brien Road, Rafting Ground Road, Grandview Road, Moggill Road and Pullenvale Road where Main Roads is clearly going to build the alternate Ipswich Highway.
We have proof Main Roads have already started buying up land for the on and off ramps.
If you know anyone on these roads who might be willing to put a sign in their front yard, please let me know as soon as possible. I am happy to phone them but need contact details. If you will put up a sign or know someone who might, please email me asap on: erectasign@gmail.com.
Many thanks, Marie

Can you share your proof with us Marie? I know several people directly on the route who would be happy to see proof either way.

Hi Keiran
Please have a look at the 2009 UBD directory which alreadu shows the corridor going all the way from the on ramp at Karalee through Anstead, Bellbowrie, Pullenvale, Pinjarra Hills, Kenmore, Fig Tree Pocket and Chapel Hill to be dumped on the Centenary Highway.
So much for promised community consultation! It will not benefit shopping centres as it thunders right through the area without on and off ramps at this stage.
There is also document which should become public knowledge (media) very soon showing that Main Roads purchased land at Karalee for $1.7 million and told the land owner it was for the on and off ramps to the alternate Ipswich Motorway.
Other such purchases are in the pipeline - stay tuned.
Bruce Flegg’s election campaign mission is to push the alternate Ipswich Motorway through the residential heart of these suburbs. It will put 75,000 trucks and cars a day past 400 local family homes, destroy the koala corridor that connects Moggill Koala Hospital to Lone Pine.
Stage 1 costs as much as $774 million (Main Roads figures) taking money away from hospitals, education and real transport solutions.
There are other solutions but Bruce Flegg does not want to listen.
We are trying to get the truth out to media but it is not easy. Talk back radio is one good opportunity if you can get through. Try Radio 4BC on 13 13 32 weekday mornings with Greg Cary or from 3pm - 6pm week days with Michael Smith.
It is vital we let people in the other suburbs know that it is NOT JUST Kenmore that is affected.

I’ve been like a broken record from the start and stopped ‘blogging’ because I was saying same old thing all the time but here I go again - I will NEVER understand why ANY politician would push for such a nightmare through their own electorate. Despite his accusations of scaremongering when we first started putting the Warrego Link ‘out there’, I can’t help but think Flegg must have been aware of the full extent of this road all along. In his position how could he not be.
And for Brisbane as a whole, it seems madness to deliberately channel even more long haul trucks into inner suburbia – it defies all logic.

Kathy, wait until you get Bruce Flegg’s ‘Vote 1′ mail out today. He’s proud of the fact that he stopped the road through Pullenvale/Brisbane Park, etc…
…and proud of the fact that he got cycle and public transport on the agenda for the Kenmore Bypass.

I think the land between Karale and Pullenvale should be sold by the government so Stage 2 will never happen. It would be worth between 70 and 80 million.
Why have stage 2 at all??
anon
why have stage 1?
The Kenmore Bypass won’t solve congestion either.
