OK so the Fig Tree Pocket interchanges are allowed to be ‘service’ interchanges because the Kenmore Bypass is considered a “minor road”?
how can that be? the speed of the KB is 80km/hour, with four lanes – definitely not a “minor road”.
and I don’t think it’s safe for cyclists to ride in the 2m shoulder. this is directly alongside freight trucks and semi-trailers speeding at 100km/hour. won’t this lead to fatalities?
and is 80km/hr too fast a speed through residential areas? shouldn’t it be reduced to 60km/hour?
Dr Flegg, if you are genuinely concerned about safety you would oppose the bypass. at the very least you should be pushing for a 60km/hour maximum speed for this *minor road*.
I agree Lauren 80kms per hour is far too fast to be going through a residental area. More acceleration , more braking, more noise, more pollution, more carbon emissions, more danger for cyclists and wildlife( what is left after their homes have been bulldozed), need I say more. This road proposal becomes more ludicrous every day it’s pretty scary when you think MRD are the experts and they can’t meet the minimum requirement on the noise factors, they can’t even mitigate thsse problems to their own standards. No wonder all the residents are up in arms.
As for the CRG it’s a farce Penny has done everything she can to try & put our point forward & not one single thing she has suggested has been taken on board & acted upon. So I don’t see why Dr. Flegg thinks we are in a unique positon unless you think unique means we have no say in the process at all. It appears the majority of the CRG members are from outside this area & want the road, the MRD didn’t even appoint anyone to the CRG from Fig Tree Pocket the suburb with the most resumptions of homes. Even when requested by Penny at the first CRG meeting, nothing was done. This is not a fair process.
My impression of the meeting with Dr. Flegg on the pavement outside Kenmore South State School was that he refused to take any of our real & genuine concerns on board. Many people spoke of having written to him about these concerns & none has received any replies. Other residents that I have spoken too that couldn’t make it for 7.30 am on Saturday morning have also said he has not replied to their letters. This is the person who is being paid to represent us, does any one else believe this is wrong? If he can’t represent this very large community group and their concerns he should resign.
I am sure that Dr. Flegg understands duty of care very well, absence of care in many professions warrants dismissal, I can’t believe that senior LNP have not picked up that Dr. Flegg is not doing his job and has become very selective with whom he wants to represent.
