The Westside news has an article reporting on the results of a phone poll conducted by Bruce Flegg. Please read the full article and leave comments. Many people polled must not know how drastically the Bypass will affect the area, and how little it will actually affect commute times. It is our job to inform people by directing them to the Save Our Kenmore site and this blog.

Former LNP Voter

As Joh used to say there is only one poll that counts …. 1000 people at the corridor walk, 1000 people at the picnic in the park, 400 people at the Green’s meeting, 10th largest e-petition for the year, 1100 people signed a written petition in a day.

Whatever happened to opposition’s making government accountable to spend taxpayer’s money wisely ?

We all know there are quicker options for commuters, cheaper options for taxpayers and better options for our local environment and our local residents.

We need politicians who earn the money they are paid, not just waiting around for another taxpayer funded pension.

Has comment from Dr Flegg about the petition that the State Member for Mount Ommaney, Julie Attwood, presented to State Parliament, as well as a link to Main Road Departments response.

The Poll question like Bruce Flegg is deceitful. The proposed Kenmore Bypass will not divert traffic around Kenmore but will carve through the heart of residential Kenmore and other suburbs. The result of a deceptive Poll is meaningless.

Bruce’s poll “results” reminded me of the this Yes Prime Minister episode:

Considering the Greens polled about 18% in Moggill in 2006, a 90% plus support in his “poll” fools nobody.

Well, at the start of the year Bruce was claiming 96% support. He is now claiming 70% support. When is he going to finally come clean and admit the majority of people don’t support it ?

The other question he should ask is will you change your vote based on this issue - memo to Bruce - YES, and last time I voted for you. None of the literature you put out, Bruce, said you were going to jam a four lane freeway through the middle of residential Kenmore, you dishonest, gutless mongrel.

Karin

I changed my vote last election based on Dr. Flegg’s appaulling leadership to The Greens. I changed my vote at the council election because of M. DeWit’s stance on the Kenmore Bypass to The Greens.

Next state election I will be voting for The Greens they are the only party so far to have taken our concerns seriously. They are the only party that put the environment & people first. From what i have experienced so far the only party concerned about democracy, which is meant to be the cornerstone of our society.

The ‘Yes minister’ clip undernormal circumstances would be very funny. However it’s really scary just how close this is to our reality here in Kenmore.

I will also be voting Greens next election as will many others - they have listened and been turning up at all meetings when requested - hmmmm Bruce - they seem to be able to make the time, which you can’t. Also of course Bruce you haven’t represented me the entire time you have been supposedly my local member. Re the
Bypass - if, god forbid, it does go ahead, it will destroy all as described by other bloggers. The really really sad part is that ‘they’ still intend to widen Moggill
Road and put a huge four - six lane road through the area! So we will have two large freeway style roads through this pristine, green suburb and surrounding suburbs! Go figure!

We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful suburb, no wonder so many of the residents are so distressed about the impact of the planned road right through the middle of it.

Last night highlights why so many residents love living here. I had a phone call from friends in Rowena st to say they had heard a Powerful Owl by the time I arrived there it had moved on. I saw a Powerful Owl one evening 10 years ago on dusk in our front garden in Gem rd.

Amazingly at 1.20am I was woken with the very hauntingly beautiful sound of the Powerful Owl a long deep “Whoo Whoo” it was calling in the valley below our home and I was able to record it’s call. I am sure many of the residents in the valley would of heard it & may have even been woken by it’s calling. It lasted about 15 minutes & moved on again to a furthew away location.

The Powerful Owl is in decline in Queensland. Lives up to 30 years and mates for life. It makes it’s home in large old tree hollows, so we’re very fortunate to have a Powerful Owl whose home range includes our valley.

It’s the largest of all Australian Owls & eats bats, gliders and even some larger birds such as cockatoos. It will be interesting to see what MRD comes up with in their yet to be released environmental reports. Especially given that to date have not verified the existence of the koalas. Despite many markings in the corridor & Ric Nattrass’s report.

I have recorded the call of the Powerful Owl lastnight. I would like to know who else heard it.

Hi Julie, I heard a deep owl call and commented to my family on it. It was around the early evening time. Fortunately I was sound asleep at 1.20am. Good on you for recording it and knowing what it was!

Julie

The Powerful Owl was also calling last night at midnight for approx 10 minutes it was in the direction of Atkinson park. Doesn’t say much for my slepping patterns, guess I’m a night Owl too.
